What to Do If You Are Not Receiving Your ADP Verification Code

When logging into your ADP payroll account through Truv using your Phone Number + One-Time Code, you might sometimes find that the text message containing your security code does not arrive.

This usually happens because of strict security rules on ADP's side. This guide explains why your code might be missing and the fastest ways to get past this screen.

Why Is the Code Not Arriving?

If you are waiting for a code that isn't showing up, it is typically due to one of the following security reasons:

  • Mismatched Information: ADP uses a hidden security feature to protect your account. If you accidentally type a phone number that doesn't exactly match the one on your active ADP profile, the screen will still say "We sent a text with your code..." but ADP will not actually send the text message. This prevents unauthorized people from guessing your phone number.
  • Too Many Attempts (Rate Limiting): If you click "Resend Code" multiple times, or try to log in repeatedly in a short period, ADP will temporarily block any further codes from being sent to your phone number to protect your data.
  • Mobile Network Delays: Occasionally, heavy traffic on your mobile carrier's network can delay or completely drop the automated text message from ADP.
How to Fix It and Log In

To bypass the missing text message and complete your verification, follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Use Your Username and Password Instead

The fastest way to log in without a text message is to switch your login method.

  1. Look at the login screen inside the verification window.
  2. Choose the option to log in using your Username and Password instead of your phone number.
  3. Enter your regular ADP credentials to connect instantly.

Step 2: Reset Your Account on the ADP Website

If you do not remember your explicit username or password, or if your phone number needs to be updated, you can fix it directly with ADP:

  1. Open a new tab in your internet browser and go directly to the official ADP website (e.g., login.adp.com).
  2. Click "Forgot Your Username/Password?" and follow the prompts to recover your credentials.
  3. Log into the official ADP site to verify that the phone number on your profile is current and correct.
  4. Once your account is sorted out, return to your verification window and use your updated Username and Password to log in.
