Security Freeze & How Truv Uses Your Information

Truv facilitates income and employment verifications at the direction and authorization of the consumer.

We do not:

  • Maintain ongoing consumer credit files or databases used to generate traditional credit bureau reports containing trade line information

  • Generate credit scores

  • Create traditional credit bureau reports

  • Sell consumer data

Information accessed through Truv is used only for the specific verification you authorize and is shared solely with the business that you authorized and that requested the verification. We do not sell your data.

Because Truv does not maintain traditional credit bureau files, we are not able to place, manage, or lift a security freeze on a credit file. Additionally, we cannot modify or delete records held by employers, payroll providers, financial institutions, or credit bureaus. If you believe information is inaccurate, you will need to contact the original data provider directly.

Security Freeze & Fraud Protection

A security freeze is a right provided under federal law that allows consumers to restrict access to their credit file.

Since Truv does not provide, maintain, or create consumer credit files or traditional credit bureau reports, nor generate credit scores,  Truv is not able to place, manage, or lift security freezes.

Security freezes must be requested directly from the consumer reporting agencies that maintain credit files, including the nationwide credit bureaus such as:

  • Equifax

  • Experian

  • TransUnion

If you have placed a freeze or fraud alert with a credit bureau, it may impact certain verification processes depending on the type of request. For assistance with placing or lifting a freeze, please contact the appropriate credit bureau directly.
